NEW CALEDONIA

For the Goro Nickel mining complex, of Vale mining company in New-Caledonia (investment of over $5 billion), Mertec was awarded two contracts consisting of:

• Identifying and qualifying over sixty welding procedures in compliance with North American (ASME) and European (ISO-EN) standards,
• Developing and implementing the Welding Quality Assurance Manual,
• Coordinating the "Welding" crew,
• Developing and implementing software to manage all welding operations,
• Providing welding technical support to the company,
• Training technical personnel in welding,
• Selecting different local suppliers of welding products.

MADAGASCAR

For the Ambatovy mining complex, of Dynatec Madagaswcar S.A. mining company (investment of over $5 billion), Mertec's two contracts involved:

• Identifying and qualifying over sixty welding procedures in compliance with North American (ASME) and European (ISO-EN) standards,
• Developing and implementing the Welding Quality Assurance Manual,

• Developing and implementing software to manage all welding operations,

IRAN

For the "South Pars" petrochemical complex in Iran, Mertec's assignment included the following two components:

Firstly, Tecnar Automation contracted with Mertec to install one of their pieces of equipment at Payandan in Iran (Rotoweld 2500 - equipment dedicated to automated welding of industrial piping in fabrication shop) and to train operators and technicians.

On the other hand, through a partnership with Hobartolid (part of the Iranian company ISCO Group), Mertec was contracted for the following deliverables for the Iranian contractor Payandan:

• Identifying the different equipment needed for their new industrial piping fabrication shop,
• Identifying suppliers for these pieces of equipment,
• Proposing optimal shop layout for the equipment.

CHINA

After more than seven years of building mutual trust with small projects, Suntech Welding (a Chinese welding equipment manufacturer and integrator) contracted with Mertec to set up an international distribution network for their welding equipment.

Tecnar

The numerous experiences abroad of Jean Mercille, President of Mertec, gave confidence to Tecnar Automation, a Quebec manufacturer.

For over six years, Mertec set up an international distribution network for Tecnar's Rotoweld . This high technology equipment is devoted to automated welding of industrial pipe spools that are shop prefabricated.

This distribution network encompasses the following countries:

Labrie environmental group

For Labrie Environmental Group in Quebec, Mertec conducted a thorough feasibility study to provide solutions to automate welding operations on one of their garbage truck bin assembly lines.

Romec

Mertec has acted as manufacturer's representative for Romec (a Quebec integrator of welding robots) to many Quebec manufacturers for sales of several automated welding systems.

Others

Mertec has been technical consultant for qualification of welding procedures and welders for:

• several piping contractors (Loomis, Bechtel, Ganotec, Bourgia and Jeumont Scheider, among others),
• construction sites for certain plants in the Becancour Industrial Park in Central Quebec (Norsk Hydro, Oxychem, Hydrogenal and the Becancour "ABI" aluminum plant expansion).

RUSSIA

The Surgutneftegas company wants to integrate with an existing conveyor in one of their fabrication shops, the "Rotoweld" welding equipment manufactured by Tecnar Automation. For this, they contracted with Mertec to manage this project (modification of the existing conveyor and integration of the Rotoweld with the modified conveyor).

THAILAND

Under a three months contract, Mertec acted as welding technical consultant for Canadoil Asia, a major manufacturer of welded components for industrial piping (elbows, tees, reducers, etc.).

Among others, Mertec assisted Canadaoil Pipe in selecting welding equipment for their rolled/welded piping fabrication plant.
